Eleven notebooks on subjects concerning Gaelic literature and culture, folk traditions and Highland life. Most of the contents are written in Gaelic. The notebooks are undated, but the majority bear the name of Glasgow Academy, where Macintosh began to teach in 1953, and were probaby compiled between that year and the late 1960s. Some of the notes can be dated to the 1960s due their link to Macintosh's activity as a contributor to newspaper columns.

Notebook in Gaelic and English containing drafts of speeches and of articles probably for publication as newspaper columns. There are also notes on a variety of other subjects concerning Highland history and traditions. One of the pieces (folio 22v)concerns the recent death of the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Macleod (d. 1955). 30 folios. The text on folios 22v-30v begins at the back of the volume and the pages are written on in reverse order.
