Among the subjects are: Bishop Gleig's literary activities, 1793-1813, George Robert Gleig's military experiences, 1812-1814, the Kent riots, 1830, reform and subsequent politics, 1831-1834, Ward's government of the Ionian Isles, 1849-1854, the Crimean War, 1856, and the Indian Mutiny, 1857. Several letters, 1883-1884, 1887-1888, and undated, relate to articles on the Army and War Office published by George Robert Gleig in periodicals. Among the undated papers are some bearing on family history and reminiscences of George Robert Gleig (MS.3871, folios 250, 312).
