Scope and Contents The contents of the manuscript are as follows:(i) ‘La Complainte de Nature a L`Alchymiste’ by Jean Perréal, followed (folio 18) by ‘La Response de l’Alchymiste’. Printed in ‘La Roman de la Rose’, iv, pages 123-202. It omits the prologue and a number of lines throughout, and the last 187 lines of the ‘Response’ are replaced by the last forty lines of the ‘Complainte’.
