(ii) 'A letter concerning the Scots Peerage', addressed to Captain Alexander Abercromby of Glassaugh, Member of Parliament from Glasgow, 1719, condemning the proposal to make the representation of the Scots Peers hereditary (folio 63).

A collection of 55 documents bound into a large volume, ca. 1900, where they are mostly mounted onto the pages. Items 1-29 are legal documents; 30-40 concern early 17th-century family matters; 41-50 concern domestic Scottish affairs during the reign of Charles I, and 51-55 relate to events in the reign of Charles II.
A list of the documents is kept with the volume.

Most of the letters and memorandums, 1785-1794 are from the Earl of Mar, addressed apparently to the Earl of Seaforth (folios 13-67).

Letters and other papers chiefly of or concerning David Livingstone, including letters to Joseph Bevan Braithwaite.
The Braithwaites were a Quaker merchant family from Kendal, friends of Robert Moffat and his son-in-law David Livingstone. One, Joseph Bevan Braithwaite, was a barrister and acted as Livingstone's legal adviser. Livingstone's own letters to him and other members of the family have been dispersed (some are now in MSS. 10768 and 20312). These volumes contain other correspondence and papers, but chiefly concern Livingstone and his letters.
