Minutes, letter book and cash books of the Mortonhall Curling Club.
Formed in 1868, the membership of the Mortonhall Curling Club was drawn largely from local landed families and the legal profession. For most of the Club's exsistence curling took place upon a constructed 'deep water pond' flooded annually in the winter months, but in the early 20th century two adjacent 'artificial ice rinks' were added. The Club was dissolved in 1916.

The later papers (MSS.23927-23930) consist of a list of his books, excerpts from his writings and excerpts of proceedings in the action against him by the Presbytery of Dalkeith.

Papers of Major-General James Stuart, a younger brother of Andrew Stuart, who, as an officer in the service of the East India Company, became involved in the disturbed politics of Madras., 1765-1793.
Andrew Stuart was a noted lawyer and politician. As lawyer he acted as agent for some important Scottish noble families, in particular the Dukes of Hamilton; as politician he represented Lanarkshire in Parliament, and was a member of the Board of Trade in Lord North's administration. The papers here are almost entirely of a legal and personal nature.
