A member of the Glasgow School and a friend of James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Edward Arthur Walton exhibited regularly at both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water-Colours.

Scope and Contents

These consist of two reports and a collection of plans bound together, for four different stone bridges proposed for different points on the river near Paxton, and for a cast iron bridge for which John Rennie did not estimate. The volume was apparently prepared for a client, and was at one time in the family of the Milne Home of Paxton.

Dates: 1800-1801.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

Many of the production files contained information which could be deemed sensitive under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. For the sake of record, one file (‘Caledonia Dreaming’) has been kept in its entirety, though anyone wishing to consult it will have to comply with the terms of the Act and complete relevant paperwork. Potentially sensitive material, such as contracts, have been removed from all other files and shredded.
