Vocabulary to the works of Horace by Archibald Fletcher., 1749.
On the inside front cover is written 'E Libris And. Fletcher June 19 1749', but the name has been overwritten and was presumably originally 'Arch’.
Volume containing a few memoranda and copies of letters entered infrequently; it appears to have been discontinued and the contents recopied in other volumes., 1809-1810.
The collection consists of letters, orders, reports, and maps relating to Murray’s military career, to his official and diplomatic duties and to his literary activities. It is arranged in nearly chronological order illustrating the various periods of his career.
Volume containing brief notes of James Dennistoun for a projected history of Dumbartonshire., 1825-?1831.
The material consists for the most part of references to printed works relating to the county and to various places within, recorded between 1825, the date of the watermark, and at least 1831 (folio 85); preceded by an index at folios 2-13, the leaves of which have been cut and lettered (as in a ledger) for the purpose. Several of the leaves (folios 22, 40, 61-84) are blank.
Volume containing eleven printed papers and five manuscript items in the case brought by Alexander Murray of Broughton, 1822-1825, against the 6th Earl of Selkirk and the town council of Kirkcudbright over fishing in the River Dee., ?1822-1825.
The printed papers consist of an engraving of a chart, 1742, and ten legal papers, and the manuscript items are notes and extracts, some from printed sources, concerning lands in the area.

Only a few leaves have been used: folios 15-17 and all after folio 18 are blank.
Volume containing notes on the Law of Scotland taken by John Riddell from lectures given by David Hume, Professor of Scots Law at Edinburgh, afterwards Baron of the Exchequer., 1806-1807.
The notes appear on the rectos of the leaves; most of the versos are blank; those as far as folio 34 verso contain inchoate genealogical notes apparently by Riddell on various Scottish and English families. His incorrect pagination has been ignored. A few leaves at the end of the volume are torn out.

The collection consists of manuscripts on a wide variety of subjects, many copied from manuscript or printed works, and chiefly dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Among them are some account-books, diaries, and other manuscripts of family interest (including a few concerning the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire, father of the 6th Marchioness of Lothian), but very few letters.
