This is a box list of the papers of Janet Paisley, as received by the Library. No attempt has been made currently to review the order of the papers, to date them or to otherwise interpret them. The aim of the box list is to facilitate access in advance of any fuller arrangement and description.

Autobiography of Sydney Durward Tremayne., 1972-[1979, or before.]
In 1972 and following his move to Gairloch in 1976, Sydney Durward Tremayne was working on an autobiography which survives in several versions. It describes his childhood, his career in journalism, and his stormy relationship with his father; it also indicates the circumstances in which he wrote some of his poems.

Autograph manuscript of Sir Walter Scott concerning Scottish gypsies, including an account of Jean Gordon, of whom the character ‘Meg Merrilies’ in Guy Mannering is based.
Autograph manuscript of `The fair Unfortunate; or, the Tragedy of Jane Douglas, the Lady Glamis’, an unpublished drama in blank verse by Alexander Campbell, the editor Of ‘Albyn’s Anthology’.
The manuscript is undated, but another hand has added the date 27 November, 1819 (folio 89 verso).
Two sheets of musical accompaniment to songs in the text have been inserted (folios 41, 51).
Tipped in at the front of the volume is a letter, 1821, from the proprietors of Covent Garden Theatre, rejecting the play.
