Legal papers from Margaret, daughter of Andrew Rutherfurd of Hunthill, assigning rights to the 1st Marquess of Tweeddale, including the marriage contract between Andrew Rutherfurd of Hunthill and Margaret Livingstone., 1659-1677.
Documents concerning the purchase of the Barony and Regality of Linton by the 1st Marquess of Tweeddale in 1671, and the assignment to him of Lord Rutherford`s debts.

Comprises: contract of marriage, 1811, between Arthur Geddes, merchant in London, and Charlotte, daughter of the Reverend William Leslie; disposition and settlement, 1811, 1833, by the Reverend William Leslie; draft contract of marriage, ?1812, between Charles Black, Writer in Forres, and Ann, daughter of the Reverend William Leslie; assignation, 1852, by the heirs of John Leslie, brother of the Reverend William, to Charles Black, New Orleans.
Letters of various correspondents mostly addressed to Mary of Lorraine., [?1536]-1556, 1588, and undated.
Marriage contract, 1666, between the 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Mary Maitland and agreement, 1687, between the same parties., 1666, 1687.

Marriage contract between Alexander Clerk, merchant, burgess of Aberdeen and Jean Chalmers, daughter of the late Master William Chalmers, minister at Skene, Aberdeenshire., 1671.
As well as charters relating to the Chalmers family itself, there are other items which are apparently unrelated but which came with the bulk of the papers. Only one document (Ch.12806) is of 15th century date, and only one (Ch.12776) is of the 16th century. The rest of the collection dates largely from the 17th and 18th centuries. A detailed list is available.
Marriage contract between Alexander Keith, writer, Edinburgh, and Jean Logan concerning lands in the Barony of Crichton., 1694.
Included are charters of Deer Abbey which passed to the family on the Reformation as the lordship of Altrie. Notes on these charters appear in Patrick Keith Murray`s `Inventory of Marischal Papers, 1905`, MS.21114.
Marriage contract between Andrew Fletcher, son of Sir Andrew Fletcher of Innerpeffer and Helen Murray, daughter of Sir Alexander Murray of Blackbarony., 22 June 1655.
There are also some documents relating to the lands of Butterdean and Wester Borthwick in Oldhamstocks which were held by the lairds of Aberlady.

Marriage contract between Robert Duncan, Burgess of Banff, and Anna Gray., 1714.
The 17th century documents relate to members of the Fordyce family, in Auchencrieff; most of those of the 18th century concern persons dwelling in Banff and its neighbourhood; and most of those of the 19th century are accounts of the Banff Town Council.
