The Barnton Fire-Fighting Parties provided a trained fire-fighting force to combat any fire emergency caused in the area by enemy action. The scheme was primarily a duty of home defence and self defence.

The first meeting of the Leaders of the Fire Fighting Parties in the Barnton Sector took place on July 21st, 1942 at the Park Grove Petrol Station.

Scope and Contents The Edinburgh Skating Club was clearly well-established in 1784 when the first minute book starts. Apart from a few years of inactivity the Club flourished until the early 1900's when combined figure-skating declined in popularity. It was finally dissolved in 1966.
