The Photostats were bought by the National Library of Scotland with the aid of the Reid Fund.

Bought, 1960, unknown possessor. The photostats were supplied by the University Library, Cambridge.

The location of the originals is not known, the owner wishing to remain anonymous.

Eleven of the letters of Sir Walter Scott have been printed from Abbotsford copies, but the remainder are apparently unpublished.
