The journal is incomplete and not all of it is in John Thomson's hand. It describes a visit to Paris and a journey from Geneva to Venice, Vienna, Berlin, and Leipzig. The first part concerns Thomson's social life and impressions of France, and the second (folio 25) describes hospitals and medical collections in Italy and Germany.
