Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows: Aberdeenshire (8a) Drawing, undated, in ink with areas of wash, of Undy Chapel, ‘by Mr Grimm’ (?1794 if by S H Grimm). (8b) Drawings, 1809, ‘Cape stones on the garden wall of, Inverugie, Castle. The letters GB and date 1670 appear to have been done at a much later period than the sculptured coach, which is probably three or four hundred years older. 9th Novr. 1809.’ (8c) Drawing, undated, ‘Fyvie [Castle] by Mr Cordiner [probably James Cordiner]’. (9a) Sketch, 1820, ‘Monymusk from the south east, 22d. Augt. 1820’. (9b) Drawing, undated, ‘Stone at Monymusk, Aberdeen’ by James Logan from sketch, 1819, by his brother John Logan, of memorial stone for Sir John Aikenwall. (9c)-(9d) Copies of engraving, 1821, of inscribed stone near Newton, by H Irvine.

It is built into the wall of a house opposite the church yard gate.’ (14f) Drawing, ‘Mont. at Cupar [i.e. Coupar Angus] in Angus, 29 Augt. 1820. It was found (26 Aug. 1820) in digging a grave in the church yard. (It was placed erect when drawn).’ (15a)-(15b) ‘Ground plan of the abbey of Cupar [i.e. Coupar Angus] in Angus.
