Scope and Contents
Letters of various correspondents to John Murray, publishers. These include letters of Edward Whymper to the Murrays and Robert Cooke. These letters concern his own publications but also mention engravings for the works of others, including Heinrich Schliemann. One letter, 1 August 1862, to his father Josiah, describes a climbing accident on the Matterhorn, including a sketch. All the letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent, then by date under each name.
