(xi) Poem, early 20th century, of seven four-lined stanzas (with four-line refrain beginning ‘But we ran and they ran’) on the battle of Falkirk, beginning, ‘It was in the Mirk near ye Toun of Falkirk a battle there was which I saw man’. (Folio 28.)

(xii) Letter signed Depréville, on behalf of Madame Depréville and Madame de Candras, apparently to an important personage, regarding Madame de Candras’s financial difficulties, Paris, 1746. There is a note dated Aberdeen, 1746, in another hand written at the top of the letter addressed ‘Au Marquis de Tullebarden’ asking him to order ‘Mons. de Waters’ to remit the money. It appears from the postscript (perhaps a second letter) that ‘le Chevalier Stuart’ was to remit the letter to Mr Waters. Both the letter and note are in French. (Folio 29.)

(xiii) ‘Account of arms delivered out of Edinburgh Castle to the undermentioned persons as likewise what returned and what is still standing out’, 1746. (Folio 32.)

(xiv) Four letters of Chief Baron Sir Thomas Parker, of the Commission of Oyer and Terminer at Carlisle, and one of John Sharpe, Solicitor to the Treasury, to Sir John Strange, leading counsel for the Crown in the trials of the Jacobites, York, Carlisle, and Doncaster, 1746. Includes the oath administered to Scots witnesses; an example of the kind of caption to be served on the prisoners; document titled ‘alarmed with the sample of the Scotch witnesses’; and documents showing the number of convictions, etc., at Carlisle, and convictions, etc., at York, with modern transcripts.
