The contents are as follows:

(i) Press cuttings, February 1875, of the 10th Marquess of Tweeddale’s speeches concerning marine electric telegraphs (folio 1);

(ii) Papers in Africaans, 1892-1900, largely administrative and military, including many signed by Benjamin Johanis Viljoen, Assistant Commandant- General, Transvaal Burgher Forces (see MS.14466, folios 201, 206-208) (folio 8);

(iii) 'Proposal for loan of £3120 over the estate of Glenogil in the parish of Tannadyce... belonging to the Trustees of the late Hugh Lyon...', 1892 (folio 59);

(iv) Legal memorandum, 1899, concerning charges against the 10th Marquess of Tweeddale as Chairman of the North British Railway Company and the West Highland Railway Company (folio 61);

(v) Opinion, 1902, of Lord Pearson in action of suspension and interdict at instance of the 10th Marquess of Tweeddale against the Western District Committee of Haddington County Council (folio 80);

(vi) Miscellaneous papers, undated, of the 10th Marquess of Tweeddale, being chiefly political notes in his hand (folio 82);

(vii) School reports, undated, for Lord Edward Douglas John Hay (folio 231);

(viii) Papers, 1911-1915, undated, of the 11th Marquess of Tweeddale, including papers concerning the executry of the 10th Marquess, the marriage certificate of the 11th Marquess, and a memorandum concerning the early life of Lord Charles Edward Hay (folio 235).
