Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows.

(i) Drafts, mainly typewritten, by Alexander Wood Inglis for a history of military music in the armies of England, Scotland, and Great Britain: the use of music in general, instruments, regimental bands, airs, are discussed. Many of the airs mentioned are in MS.3352. (Folio 1.)

(ii) Miscellaneous material, 1915, 1918-1919, relating to military music, including correspondence. (Folio 185.)

(iii) Lists of airs (not necessarily military) in various manuscripts. (Folio 249.)

(iv) Notes of Alexander Wood Inglis on Scottish airs, apparently in a printed book or manuscript. (Folio 258.)
