(i) Copies of correspondence between Lord Nelson and Sir John Acton, 1803-1804 (folio 1); (ii) Copies of letters of Hugh Elliot to Lord Nelson, 1803 (folio 15); (iii) Papers concerning John Badge, merchant in Naples, and John Park, master of the ‘Columba , arrested on a charge of barratry, 1803 (folio 91); (iv) Papers connected with the capture of the French privateer ‘Tigre’, 1803 (folio 129); (v) Papers relating to an alleged attack (in search of naval deserters) by a boarding party from the British sloop ‘Bittern’ on three Dutch and a French ship in Naples harbour, 1804 (folio 166).

Existence and Location of Originals

The letters from Lord Nelson to Hugh Elliot were sold to the National Maritime Museum in 1958, when the bulk of the Minto papers came to the National Library of Scotland
