Scope and Contents

Notes of Ian Rankin, 2000-2001, relating to the development of the plot and characters for ‘Resurrection Men’. Folios 1-59.

The notes include working and research notes of Rankin, including research on Tulliallan Scottish Police College (photograph of the College, Folio 59), relevant events, Peter Williamson, and herbal medicine. Most of the notes are undated. The distinction between the notes and drafts is often unclear. Some notes have been revisited and subsequently annotated by Rankin as his development of the novel progressed. As far as possible, evidence of development and changes in theme and plot have been used to inform the arrangement.
