Letters of John Hanson and his family to various correspondents., 1805-1849.
Scope and Contents
In the capacity of guardian and agent for Lord Byron, John Hanson wrote many letters relating to the poet to various friends and family of Byron. This correspondence is full of detail relating to the life of Lord Byron, including his experiences at school, his progress at Cambridge and his financial affairs. There are also letters written after the death of Lord Byron, concerning continuing business matters relating to the works of Byron, his legacy and his estate. Included here are letters to Catherine Gordon Byron, John Cam Hobhouse, Augusta Leigh and John Murray II. There are also letters of two sons of John Hanson, Charles and Newton, which were written to Hobhouse and John Murray III.

The letters of John Hanson have been arranged by alphabetically by surname of recipient and then further sorted chronologically. The letters of Charles Hanson have then been arranged chronologically, followed by those of Newton Hanson, also in chronological order.
