Tom Weir is probably best known for his long-running STV series ‘Weir’s Way’. He was born in Glasgow and served in the Royal Artillery during World War II. Ronald Fairbairn was born in Edinburgh in 1889 and educated at Merchiston Castle School and the Universities of Edinburgh, Manchester, Kiel and Strasbourg.
