The papers appear to have belonged to Lord Swinton, and may be the collection of the Reverend Samuel Semple, Swinton’s maternal grandfather (cf. FES i, 172).

Donald MacNicol (1735-1802), minister of Lismore, and continued by his son Dugald (b. 1791), an army officer.
