Scope and Contents From the Series: The charters of the Minto family include titles to all the lands owned by the family in Roxburghshire, Fife, and Angus. The Roxburghshire titles include a few from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries but they and the Angus titles are not numerous until the seventeenth century. Papers of the Willison family, who farmed in both Lanarkshire and Perthshire, covering personal and business matters. The collection includes a detailed family history and genealogy composed by Ralph Willison Simmonds (Edinburgh 1989), detailed transcripts and a booklet with historical notes: The Willisons of South Lanarkshire (Edinburgh, 1994), also by Mr Willison - see Acc.11049/1 and Acc.11049/76.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

Born in Aberdeenshire, Charles Murray went to South Africa in 1888, where he rose to be Deputy-Inspector of Mines for the Transvaal (1901) and Secretary for Public Works in the Union of South Africa (1910). He never lost touch with Scotland, and many of his poems are in the dialect of the north east.

Scope and Contents From the Fonds:

Robert McLellan (1907-1985) was born near Lanark and educated at Bearsden and Glasgow University. In 1938 he married and moved to Arran, where he spent the rest of his life, except for a period of service in the Royal Artillery, 1940-1946. His most important literary works were plays, but he also wrote poetry, short stories, and books on Arran.

Scope and Contents From the Fonds: The firm of John Richardson and Company, of Perth, was already well established by 1760 with a wide business, chiefly in salmon, both locally and throughout Europe.
