Scope and Contents

Leith Franklin Cricket Club was founded in 1852 by workers in nearby Fullarton’s Printing Works and was named after Benjamin Franklin, inventor and printer. In various incarnations, the Club has played cricket on Leith Links since before 1850. The club merged with Leith Academicals in 1988, since when they have been known as the Leith Franklin Academicals Cricket Club.

Scope and Contents

This folder consists of programmes for a number of Speedway events, including fixtures for teams from the Edinburh Monarchs, Ashfield Giants, Lanarkshire Eagles, Leicester Lions, White City Speedway, Coventry, Oxford, Poole, Wembley, Sydney, England, Scotland, Great Britain, Sweden, and the Speedway Championship of the World. Many of the programmes have been annotated by Watt with results.

Also included are press passes, a fixture card and some ticket stubs.

Dates: 1951-1970.

Records of the Edinburgh dining club, The Friday Club, formed in June 1803 and continued until 1850, prefaced by a long autograph memorandum by Lord Cockburn.
