She taught in schools in England (1907-1911, 1919-1920), Edinburgh (1915), Newton Stewart (1916-1919), Stornoway (1920-1924) and Skye (1924-1927). During 1927-1934 she lectured in the University of British Columbia. After some time in London she spent the war years teaching in Harris, the Uist and Barra. Eleven scrapbooks, 1899-1935, concerning Lord Robert MacGregor Mitchell (1875-1938), Scottish lawyer and judge, Liberal MP for Perth and University Rector.

Papers of Scottish actor and theatre director Marillyn Gray (1930-2006), chiefly relating to the Gateway Theatre, Edinburgh, in which she was a regular performer. The Gateway papers came into her care at some point after the theatre closed possibly entrusted to her by, or after the death of, Sadie Aitken (1905-85) Gateway Theatre General Manager, some of whose papers are in the collection.

In some cases the underwriting has been identified: folios 9+16 and folios 19+22 are fragments of 8th-century copies of Augustine's ‘De Trinitate’ and the ‘Passio S. Laurentii’. Folio 30 recto is part of a service book, possibly a missal, of the early 11th century. Folios 26+33 is a fragment of a copy of Gregory the Great's ‘Homiliae in Evangelia’, of the 8th century.
