The papers consist of: (i) A memorandum written by Henry Murray between 1805 and 1808 for the assembly and exercise of a corps (folio 1); (ii) Programmes, 1812, of manoeuvres and reviews of the 18th Hussars, in which he was a Lieutenant-Colonel (folio 3); (iii) A memorandum, 1823, of the disposition of review and exercise of a division of cavalry (folio 25).

Scope and Contents Miss Liebenthal, herself an able violinist, was best known for the lunch hour concerts she ran in the National Gallery of Scotland, from the Second World War until her death in 1970. She was particularly interested in introducing younger musicians to the public, and many of the players and singers she brought to Edinburgh went on to make distinguished careers. Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The archive contains the correspondence of the members of the Brown family from 1810-1899. The letters reflect the personal lives of the Brown family and provide a stark insight into the lives of early settlers who travelled to the Victorian colonies in Southern Australia to reap the benefits of the quartz mines and the gold fields. The collection also contains documents that complement the narrative portrayed within the family’s correspondence.

Contains two printed items: A copy of The Camanachd Association: Constitution and Rules of Play, 1952-1953; Camanachd Cup Final souvenir programme of Kyles Athletic v. Newtonmore, Saturday 11th April, 1959, Glasgow.

Also contains notes by Farquhar Macintosh on the history of shinty, and an address given to the Camanachd Association, written on headed notepaper dated 1959. Macintosh was honorary secretary of Glasgow University Shinty Club.
