The volume contains letters of, and a few letters to, the Duke of Lauderdale, 1664-1672, with a few letters addressed to the 1st and 2nd Marquesses of Tweeddale.
Nearly all Lauderdale's letters are to the Marquess of Tweeddale or to Sir Robert Moray and concern public affairs.
