The contents are as follows. (i) Journal of Neil Munro's visit to Canada, 1903 (folio 2). The later entries are wrongly dated 1904. Travelling with a group of journalists, Munro crossed the country by train from Quebec to Victoria and back. His journal is illustrated with newspaper cuttings and photographs. (ii) Journal of a tour to Italy, 1904 (folio 48); (iii) Journal of a visit to the Outer Hebrides, 1901 (folio 60).

He was educated at George’s Watson’s College, Welbeck College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, from which he was commissioned in July 1959 into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The chapters are formed by a journal of Alexander Walker's voyage from Europe to India as a young officer in 1781, a journal of the Malabar expedition under Brigadier-General Mathews against Hyder Ali in 1782-1783, and a journal of the siege of Mangalore in 1783-1784. This fair copy seems to have been made circa 1821.
