The journal gives George Scott-Moncrieff's impressions of the country during his travels from New Jersey through the southern states to California and back to Florida and the eastern states. There is also a fragment of a later journal, 1965 (folio 76). The inverted folios contain drafts of articles and a story about America.

Journal of Henry Aston Barker describing a voyage to Constantinople, and his life there., 1799-April 1800.
Henry Aston Barker left England in September 1799, and after calling at Lisbon, Gibraltar, and Mahon in Minorca, arrived at Palermo in December. Here he was entertained by Lady Hamilton and met Nelson. He reached Constantinople early in 1800, and spent much of his time working on drawings for his panorama of the city. His journal describes scenes in Turkey such as a procession, a dinner in a Turkish household, and the whirling dervishes.

This journal is incomplete, recording events only up to 18 September 1789; a note added on folio 116 in another hand explains what happened to Isaac Samuel Benners after that date. Large gaps are frequently left in the text for later insertion of drawings, and small blanks for names, mostly botanical.

The Naval log is illustrated by sketches of ships, scenery, antiquities, etc., and accompanied by several poems and a dissertation on the putrid fever of St Lucia (folio 27). The scenes and incidents described include the West Indies, 1778-1779; Denmark and Zetland, 1780; the loss of the ‘Royal George’, 1782; and the battle of Cape St Vincent.

James B Burnett was with the naval squadron stationed near Bilbao in 1812, and his journal describes visits ashore, occasionally mentioning enemy action. He then served on board the East Indiaman 'Charles Grant'.
Journal of James Byers, the architect and archaeologist, describing visits he made to Southern Italy, Sicily and Malta in 1766.
There are particular descriptions of churches and ancient temples, especially the architectural details of each. James Byers also gives detailed observations of terrain, local inhabitants and their customs. The journal is illustrated with his own line drawings principally of buildings.
