Scope and Contents
Hardback check design sketchbook containing 74 pages of drawings and diary entries by the artist, documenting her visit to the Loire Valley, France in October 1998. Sketch mediums used include ink, pencil and crayon. The first diary entry is dated as 16 October 1998 and concludes on 21 October. A previous travel diary documents the beginning of the trip, commencing on 12 October 1998. In this diary the artist charts her visits to Amboise, Fontevraud, Azay-le-Rideau, and Tours, noting sights of cultural interest including Leonardo da Vinci's tomb at Château d'Amboise and a chance encounter with a wedding party. The diary concludes with descriptions of the return journey to Britain; an overnight stay at the East India Club in London, and the train journey from King's Cross to Waverley Station, Edinburgh.
