Scope and Contents
Letters, 1884-1890, of Heinrich Schliemann to John Murray III and John Murray IV, with related letters and papers. The letters concern mostly the publication of “Tiryns”, including details of the involvement of other publishers in Europe and America. Some of the letters reveal the controversy surrounding Schliemann’s work and his efforts to respond to criticisms, and also details of his continuing excavations. Several letters of Charles Reinwald to John Murray, publishers, are included. The letters are arranged chronologically:
