Identifier: MS.2076

Scope and Contents

The 'Lilium' is followed by Rémacle Fuchs's ten tables of common prescriptions (folio 342) and a portion of Gordon's ‘De decem ingeniis curandorum morborum’ (folio 352).

The margins bear relevant notes in Gaelic and Latin in various hands; on folio 338 verso are pious sentences in English; the date 1702 appears on folio 94. There are notes of the Earl of Buchan on folios i, iii verso.

The manuscript is incomplete at the end and the last leaves are much broken; otherwise only folios 2-3 are missing.

Bibliography

All of these treatises are included in Bernard de Gordon's ‘Opus, Lilium Medicinae inscriptum . . . una cum aliquot aliis eius libellis’ (Lyons, 1574), of which a copy, containing a manuscript note by Macqueen to the same effect as that on folio iii verso and written five days earlier, is in the National Library of Scotland.
