Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows.

(i) A psalm setting by Robert Moir written on two leaves cut out of MS.21774 after folio 17 and pasted to a larger sheet of stiff paper. (Folio 1.)

(ii) Extracts from newspapers and other periodical publications concerning musical topics published between 1852 and 1862 (and some from earlier sources), written on twenty-five printed bifolia (from a larger number) containing a prospectus and a subscription list for ‘Beauties of the Bible’ by William Leask. (Folio 2.)

(iii) Photogravure of Leask, no doubt extracted from one of his published works. (Folio 53.)

(iv) Extracts on musical and some other topics, and copies of the words and melodies of songs, from printed sources published between 1537 and 1861. Some leaves have been cut out after folio 69, and folio 70 is a scrap, pasted to stiff paper. (Folio 54.)

(v) Fragments of leaves (possibly cut from MS.21774) containing tunes, 1860-1861, in Moir's hand. (Folio 71.)

(vi) Chants arranged for four voices. (Folio 74.)

(vii) Photostat of the title page of Moir's ‘Collection of tunes...’ (Folio 84.)
