Small unbound octavo booklet, 18 leaves. In the hand of Rev. Donald MacNcol. Signed on the front page, 'Donald McNicol'. Dated 1769 on folio 2 recto. The first page gives a contents list of titles.

Contains 13 Gaelic songs, 7 of which are Ossianic. Among the non-Ossianic songs is 'Cha b' e tùchan a' chnatain' by Robert Campbell, Forsair Choire an t-Sìth.

The two hymns by Buchanan are in the hand of Rev. Donald MacNicol, while the fragment is possibly in a different, unidentified hand. Scope and Contents A folder of loose sheets of various sizes, written in various hands, and mostly undated. 45 folios. The names of the scribes are identified where possible. The contents are:[Black Prince]. Poem entitled on docket "Black Prince", beginning ''N cuala tu Sheamais ruaig aite / Nan Uaislin achduineach armach'. Scope and Contents A collection of Gaelic songs and associated papers, brought together by the Rev. Donald MacNicol (1735-1802), minister of Lismore, and continued by his son Dugald (b. 1791), an army officer. The Gaelic songs are from a range of periods and include Ossianic verse, waulking songs and songs by contemporaries of the collectors, such as Dugald Buchanan, Donnchadh Bàn Macintyre and Seumas Mac Gille-Sheathanaich (Shaw).
