    The contents are as follows.

    (i) Correspondence: an unsigned letter, 1729, to the Marchioness of Lothian from her sister (probably Eleanora, wife of John Craufurd of Craufurdland); eight letters, 1870, written by the 8th Marchioness and the 9th Marquess and Marchioness; and nine letters, 1871-1899, undated, written to the 9th Marquess.     (ii) Other papers: copy of an inscription on a dirk given to the 6th Marquess, 1797; 'Maxims by my Father', in the hand of the 6th Marquess, circa 1815; poem in honour of the second marriage of the 6th Marquess, 1806, and the birth of the 8th Marquess, 1832; 'Jottings for Log Book, Newbattle Abbey', 1882-1900.
