Scope and Contents

The material consists of:

(i) A setting, 1772, for voice and piano by John Collett of 'An ode in honour of the birthday of Andrew Crosbie' by John Maclaurin, Lord Dreghorn (folio 1);

(ii) A copy, in an early nineteenth-century (apparently contemporary) hand, of Karl Czerny, 'Choix de Walses brillantes et faciles pour le piano-forte' (folio 11);

(iii) A full score, in an apparently late eighteenth-century hand, of the aria 'Son confusa pastorella' from the opera "Alessandro Nell' Indie" by Davide Perez, which was first produced in 1745 (folio 19);

(iv) The parts, in an apparently late eighteenth-century hand, of a "Sinfonia a due violini e basso del' Sigʳ Gio: Bãtta Pergolesi" (folio 24);

(v) The parts, in an apparently late eighteenth-century hand, of an unidentified andantino in A major for string quartet (folio 28);

(vi) A miscellany of vocal and keyboard pieces of the late eighteenth- and early nineteenth- centuries, including works by Charles Avison, William Jackson 'of Exeter', Stephen Storace, Galuppi and Handel (folio 34).
