Scope and Contents
The catalogue was compiled before the transmission of the collection to the National Library of Scotland in 1938. It contains interesting details about many of the books. A newspaper-cutting about the collection, and notes made by members of the National Library staff, found loose in the first volume, have been pasted in.

As such it is to be requested under printed book request procedures through the appropriate bibliographic record in the printed book catalogue. The identifier 'H.S.' indicates the printed book reference number and the full reference is recorded in square brackets after the manuscript reference number: e.g. MS.5053 [H.S.1243].
