Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: Whitwell Elwin and the publishing house of John Murray had a close connection over the second half of the 19th century. Not only was Elwin a Murray author, he was also the editor of the 'Quarterly Review' for seven years. Scope and Contents From the Series:

Sir Robert and Lady Liston spent the remainder of their lives at Millburn Tower, near Kirkliston, which Sir Robert had bought some years previously. He took a great interest in improving the estate and supervising road-making in the parish.

Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters mainly to George Outram, and a manuscript of one of his `legal lyrics`, evidently unpublished. The letters are from various eminent correspondents and mainly relate to `The Glasgow Herald` and to Outram`s first privately printed collection of `Legal Lyrics` (1851). Correspondents include William Edmonstoune Aytoun, John Wilson and James Sheridan Knowles. With one unrelated letter, 1870, of Sir George Deas.
